'Web Downloader' freeware update - 1.0.6.7
|
And 'Web Downloader' has been updated to version 1.0.6.7.
In between those versions, the new improvements have been:
• new 'sound on finish' routine, because of XP incompatibilities • option to create shortcuts on Desktop, Start menu and/or Quick lauchbar • improved browser's context menu, allowing groups of links instead of a single one at a time (still only IE for now...) • option to 'exit to tray' instead of closing program • specific 'paths by file extension' moved to 1st page of preferences • new 'auto-reset downloaded items' option, on the event that you don't want this software to avoid re-downloading already downloaded items... • and a few more smaller changes to speed things even more
And as always, you can download it - and whole lot of other freeware - from our freeware webpage. |

'Wav player' freeware update - 1.0.1.4
|
'Wav player', the small multimedia player, has been updated to version 1.0.1.4
Thanks to user B.James that noticed some files were not getting the 'play' button back to it's default state on ending - this was due to some media files not sending the desired message back to the software, on ending, so this has been overcome - I hope - on this last version.
And a couple more changes were made, as I was at it:- single click to change folders
- new button to show the menu
- smarter popup menu
- remember window position
- remember last media type played
And, as always, this new version of the player can be downloaded from the freeware webpage |

'Web Downloader' - FALSE trojan alert !
|
Could there be a 'trojan' inside our 'Web Downloader' freeware? OF COURSE NOT !!
Last night, Kaspersky Lab's antivirus and AVG antivirus started firing 'trojan' alerts regarding our 'Web Downloader' freeware . This got me a bit worried, of course, as there was - and never will be - no trojan, virus or anything else on any of our software, and this was not good.
On further investigation, I found out that it was the WD_cf_menu.exe utility that was firing the false alert and decided to find why it was so, so just recompiled it and... the alert was gone!!
My guess is that some code - when it was recompiled 1st time got somewhat similar to the 'signature' that both antivirus use to identify the trojan, but on the 2nd recompile this was gone - just a guess..
Both companies, Kaspersky Lab and AVG were emailed with a copy of the freeware for them to check the 'false positive'.
Anyway, all my software is regularly checked, tested - and certified - by a lot of download sites, like Softpedia.com, Qarchive.org, DataPics.com - and a lot of other freeware sites - and never a thing like this or a virus or any 'bad' thing was found, as all users know.
Just a few of those reports, if you would care to check:
• Web-Downloader-Clean-27768 • web-downloader.jose-falcao.qarchive.org • cleanprograms.from.webxpace.net
Thank you to all the people that emailed me regarding this, and that didn't believe there was anything wrong with the software - it's really for those people that I like to create and give away all this software for free |

'Web Downloader' freeware update - 1.0.6.1
|
Again 'Web Downloader' has gone over a few versions so fast, that I didn't even have the time to publish those here!
So here is version 1.0.6.1, with a full regular menu instead of only depending on the right-click menu. Of course, if you prefer to work without it (or hide it) there is a new option to do it in preferences
Also, 'referrer' and authentication is now fully working for any site that requires it, and any URL in the format http://name:pass@domain/filename.ext (http and/or ftp) works correctly - at least I hope it does
Web Downloader also now finds the correct file name automatically for all items added, for those download sites that have those odd download strings redirecting to the download file. If you can, get the "Get real file 'data' on adding" option always select in preferences, as this will immediately get you the correct file name, file size and date of any file added.
A few shortcuts have also been changed, to make it more consistent to Windows way of working. And a few other small things...
Most of those changes were done starting from tDJ's good suggestions, so a thank you is in order here.
Download it from freeware web page, and check it for yourself. after all, this is FREE software... |

'Web Downloader' freeware update - 1.0.5.5
|
And 'Web Downloader' has gone by 1.0.5.0 to 1.0.5.5 in just a couple of days!
Thanks to our user tDJ and his continuous flow of suggestions, this freeware has had a boost of changes and improvements - thanks tDj . By the way, you may also check his very nice webpage at TheDutchJewel.
So, in short, 'Web Downloader' has a few more options in preferences, can keep the original date and time for downloaded files, may add a new "Download with WebDownload" context menu item to your browser - still only to IE, but next to Opera also. And Alt+R (to run or open downloaded files) now works correctly, as it stoped working somewere along developement and I hadn't noticed - thanks go again to tDj for noticing it.
And maybe I am forgeting some changes, but just go to our freeware web page, download it and see for yourself |

'Watch' freeware update - 1.1.3.2
|
Thanks to the suggestion of Miguel Garza, 'Watch' freeware has been updated with a brand new command line option to set the alarm on starting
With this new version 1.1.3.2, you can set the alarm from the command line, and it works like this:
Example: Consider it is now 11:30 hours And we want to set alarm to 70 minutes from now, so we have 2 options:
_____ path_to_program/relogio.exe -set h:12 m:40 or _____ path_to_program/relogio.exe -set t:70
h: means 'hour' m: means 'minutes' t: is split time in minutes (use either h+m or t - not both at same time)
You can download this new version - and all other software - from our FREEware page, as always. |

'Web Downloader' freeware update - 1.0.5.0
|
After a couple of smaller updates - not announced here.. - 'Web Downloader' has been updated again, to version 1.0.5.0
Thanks to user tDJ, for suggesting that the software could also get the date and time for files added - so now it does. Also, a few more smaller improvements, and a couple of old bugs that I only discovered today were corrected - hope no new ones were introduced in the process
Just a note: this new version is not compatible with older versions - this just means you should download all pending downloads (if any) with your older version before replacing it by this one.
And this new download is available, as always, from our freeware web page. |

A new freeware release - Favorite Tree 0.1.4.0
|
There is a new freeware available to download from our webpage. This time, we have published an Internet Explorer 'Favorites' manager.
You know, 'favorites' are those links you keep and that usually grow to so many that they get out of control This is when you feel the need for a software like this one!
This software loads all 'favorites' automatically from it's folder, lets you check all links - or one at a time - for existence, and marks not existing links as such. Allows you also to rename a 'favorite' (link) name and properties making all changes permanent.
And, of course, you can also open a webpage from a link directly from this software into Internet Explorer.
This is freeware, so if you would like to see this software being improved, just send your suggestions, questions, etc.
You can download all new versions - and all other software - from our FREEware page, as always! |
